VGAOK FAQ

Question: Why is there such a long lead time right now?
Answer: Some of the parts have a 4 week or greater lead time right now. Also, I am a small company (me, myself, and I) and these are being hand made right now. As sales increase, I will be able to get ahead of things, to where I can stock them, and they should go out in a matter of days after receiving an order. Until then, I ask that you please be patient. Thanks!

Question: What is with the padded bag that my unit was packed in?
Answer: I receive a lot of these padded bags with the electronics parts in them, they happen to be a good size for the tester. There is nothing wrong with them, other than the electronic parts inventory label on them, and that they were used once. So why not recycle them!

Question: Can the Name and Phone Number displayed on the unit be changed?
Answer: These are programmed before your unit is shipped to you, please make sure that the information is correct when you place your order. If for some reason you need to change your Phone Number, or Name in the case of marriage, you can ship your unit back to be reprogrammed for a nominal fee. Proof of Ownership is required.

Question: Why are the SXGA and HD720 resolutions not at 60Hz?
Answer: Do to the current limitations of the processor used, there is no simple means sync the output at 60Hz for those resolutions. We have found that only a few displays have problems syncing at those frequencies.

Question: Are other patterns, options available?
Answer: This unit has minimal capabilities, limited to simple block shapes and base colors at these resolutions. If you would like something that you think is in the realm of this device, please contact us for possible custom programming.

Question: Why does it only have the one test pattern, and not other patterns like crosshatch, grayscale, etc.?
Answer: A few people thought that this was intended to be a replacement to a unit like the Extron VTG 300 (around $1000 USD), with multiple output types, test patterns, and resolutions. There are many companies making great robust units like the Extron unit for more thorough testing and alignment of projectors and displays.

However there is not a good small unit for the quick testing done by general AV techs in the many situations in which a display and cabling are supplied, but the source is the clients computer that is not available during set up. This unit allows for a quick verification that you have Red, Blue, and Green Signals, as well as Vertical and Horizontal Sync.

Question: How long does the battery last?
Answer: This depends on use, but I have one of the prototypes that I have been cycling a few times a day, that has been running about 2 months now on the same battery.

Question: You had a survey a while ago, what were the results of the survey?
Answer: The results of the survey can be found on the survey results page.
